You've heard of a blog, right? Maybe you even have your own that you share with your friends and family over the Internet. So, what about a vlog? Have you heard of that? A vlog is short for a video blog. It combines video, the Web and a log all into one. It's basically a blog that includes video footage. That is the only difference from a regular blog. Vlogs contain embedded videos or the video links that are accompanied by other text, images or any other media data. You can put videos into your regular blogs, but if you want something with nothing but videos for your viewers to see, a vlog is the way to go.
Some vlogs use an RSS feed for automatic distribution of the videos whenever someone logs in to view them. That allows for faster playback on personal computers and other mobile devices. Some vlogs are collaborative efforts by several people, but some are also individually maintained. You can create your own if you'd like. Just include some of your favorite videos and let your readers know about it to gain support. It's a very cool way to occupy your time!
Use Slides From Other Files: PowerPoint 2007
Today, we'll work with PowerPoint 2007's ability to reuse slides from another presentation, saving you time and energy. First, in order to bring slides from another presentation into the presentation currently open, you need the bottom half of the New Slide button on the Home ribbon.
At the very bottom, you're looking for the Reuse Slides choice.
You will then see this on the right hand side of your program window:
In the top section, click on the Browse button, Browse File choice to select the PowerPoint file that contains your needed slides.
Find your presentation and then click on the Open button.
Upon your return, you'll find that the bottom portion has been filled with the slides from the presentation you chose.
As you slowly run your mouse pointer over the slides, they will enlarge so that you can see just what you have to choose from.
Click on the slide you want to reuse in the current presentation.
That click will then insert the slide using the formatting for the new presentation, including the theme and slide master elements.
It's possible to keep the source formatting for some of the reused slides, but not all of them, so you definitely need to keep that in mind.
If there are a couple of presentations you're looking to pull slides from, simply repeat the Browse button, Browse File process.
The new set of slides will replace the first and you can proceed as usual.
Don't fret if you realize you need a slide from the first file. You can quickly switch back by using the down arrow on the right side of the file name.
When you click on the arrow, you'll find a list of the files you've recently used. Just select one, click on the blue right arrow to the right of the down arrow and the slide choices will switch back immediately.
There you have it. Reusing slides in PowerPoint 2007 is as easy as can be!
Waking Up Vista
Did you know you can use the Windows Vista Task Scheduler to make your computer wake up automatically from the sleep mode with a pre-set time? Well, now you do and here's how to do it:
Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Task Scheduler.
Select Create Task on the right hand side and a new window will open. Under the General tab, fill in the Name and Description fields. Also, check the option that says "Run with highest privileges."
Under the Triggers tab, click New and another window will then open. Select "One time" (or Daily if you want it repeated everyday at a certain time). Next, set the Date and Time for when you want your Vista computer to wake up from the sleep mode. Now, under the Actions tab, you have to mention a task. Click New and then run a simple task. For example, launch and close the command prompt window. That will then set your Vista computer to wake up every time you carry out that task. (You can choose whichever task you'd like). Now, under the Actions tab, you have to mention a task. Click New and then run a simple task. For example, launch and close the command prompt window. That will then set your Vista computer to wake up every time you carry out that task. (You can choose whichever task you'd like).
Next, select "Action as: Start a program." To schedule a task that executes the command cmd.exe with command line arguments, copy and paste this under the Program/script section:
/c “exit”
Under the Conditions tab, check the "Wake the computer to run this task" checkbox. That is very important, so don't forget to do it!
When you're done, click OK and then Exit Task Scheduler. Your computer will now wake up from the sleep mode at your specified time. How cool is that? Give this a try today!
Vishing: A New Type of Scam
Just when you thought there couldn't be another way to get ripped off on the Web, along comes a new scam for stealing your personal information. This scam is called vishing and it combines an older type of scam with a new twist. Let's see what we've got!
I'm sure by now you all have heard of phishing scams. They are the ones that send out spam e-mails, pretending to be a reputable company. They then fool people into visiting fake Web sites and giving out their personal data. Well, vishing takes that even one step further.
Since most people seem to be getting wise to phishing, they are less likely to fall for the spam e-mails and that means less success for the scammers. To counteract that, vishing no longer directs people to Web sites. That's right, vishing completely avoids Web sites all together. In a vishing scam, people are sent spam mail, but instead of being directed to a Web site, they are given a phone number to call. If you call the number, it will seem like you're calling the company that sent you the e-mail. They have all of the automated messages, hold music and even long wait times. When you finally reach a representative, they will ask you for your account information. That's the scam! After getting the information from you, they can log in to your actual account and steal your money or identity.
So, how can you avoid falling for one of these scams? Here's how!
If you receive an e-mail from a company asking you to call them, do not call! Instead, open your Web browser and go directly to the company's Web site. From there, look up the number to reach them. By doing that, you know you're calling the actual company. If you call and they aren't aware of sending you an e-mail, make sure you let them know someone is attempting to pull off a vishing scam on their customers. That will then get them to start fighting against the scammers and you'll know you've done your part to help. Until next time, stay safe out there.

Do you need a free place to host your images? Want one that’s fast and reliable? How about one you don’t even have to register for? If all that sounds good to you, you've got to give Fumpr a try!
When you get to the main page, you have two options. You can start uploading your images or you can start with a tour.
The tour walks you through the process of using the Web site. It takes you step by step through the process and it explains all of the features. If you’re unfamiliar with image hosting, I highly recommend checking out the tour. It’s well put together and easy to understand.
I’m extremely familiar with image hosting, so I dove right in and clicked on the Browse button. Once I selected the image I wanted, I clicked on the Fump button. It uploads the image super fast and it gives you options of what you can do with it next.
You get a link to share with your friends via e-mail, the download link, the embed code and a URL you can use on a forum.
The part I love the most is it’s private. No one can find your images and if you lose the link to it, you can just upload the image again.
While you’re on the site, you can also sign up for the Fumpr newsletter. Just click on the button, fill in your e-mail address and click on the Add My E-mail button. Check it all out today!
