The Key to a Print Preview
Many of you probably find the Print Preview option in MS Word to be a very useful feature, right?
I mean, it's an excellent way to double check your layout before you waste paper and ink/toner printing something out that really isn't ready to go.
I don't know about you, but I usually get to the Print Preview window either through the File menu or by using the button on the Standard Toolbar. (For Word 2007 users, the Print Preview is now located via the Office button, Print choice or it's a button you can add to the Quick Access Toolbar by using the arrow located to the right of the toolbar).
Now, I have stumbled across a keyboard shortcut that you readers who prefer to go mouseless will surely want to know about!
Next time, try Ctrl + F2.
You should be taken straight to the Print Preview window. No fuss, no muss!
Want to return to your regular editing window in Word?
Try Ctrl + F2 againOn this Web site, you can discover the World’s Healthiest Foods! Not only will you learn about healthy foods, but you will also get great advice on how to prepare them, as well as, recipes to try with them.
Each week, a different healthy food is highlighted. While I was visiting, the highlighted food was winter squash. You will find the featured food on the left side of the page. There you will find some brief information about it, as well as, some nutritional information, along with links to more information about it. I didn’t know winter squash could be steamed in just seven minutes or what to do with it in a meal. But now, I have some great ideas and I can’t wait to try them!
One of the things I really loved about this site is the Free Food Advisor. You’ll find that on the main section of the page. Just scroll down a bit and you'll find it. The Food Advisor helps you find the foods that are right for you. Just fill out the About Me section, fill out what you eat and then click the Submit for Analysis button. Make sure you check the Terms of Agreement button or it will not work.
When the analysis is complete, you will receive your results based on what you entered. The results fall into three categories: red, yellow and green. If something is in the red (I had a ton of things in the red, because I’m a very picky eater), that's an area where you need to make some changes. I learned that I don’t get enough Calcium, Vitamin E, B12, B3, B6, D or Iron. And that’s just listing a few! It’s really shocking to find out that even when you think you’re eating healthy, you could be missing vital nutrients. Thank goodness I take my vitamins!
Not only does this site tell you what you’re missing from your diet, but it tell you what foods can help you and it provide some recipes for you! Of course, it is based on the 125 nutrient dense foods in their database, so you may be eating the nutrients you need from other foods or getting them from your daily vitamins. I still think it was an awesome eye opener for me though!
Also, on the main section of the site, you’ll see a three minute cooking lesson. When I was there, it was cubed butternut squash. The lesson opens in another window and it provides both directions and a demonstration with pictures.
Oh, and before I forget, they also have a free newsletter you can have delivered to your Inbox weekly or a daily recipe and food tip newsletter. Just type in your e-mail address and click Submit to get them.
PDF XChange Viewer
Do you do a lot of work with PDF files? If so, you know how important it is to have a program that will allow you to get the most out of your documents. There's no use wasting your time with a program that won't give you what you need. Now, I know several of you probably use Adobe's Acrobat Reader and there may even be some of you who use Foxit Reader, but I've got one more to add to the mix today and I guarantee you'll want to check it out. Let's see what we've got, shall we?!
Another PDF program that has been gaining a lot of popularity lately is called the PDF XChange Viewer. It's basically just another program you can use to view your PDF files, but it brings a little more to the table than just that. For starters, along with viewing your files, the PDF XChange Viewer allows you to annotate them as well. Yep, you can add text, sticky notes and several other types of annotations right to your files. For example, let's say you're editing a document and instead of making all the changes as you go, you can just add in little notes for yourself and fix them later. It saves you time and it's a fun way to edit your work!
And that's not all the PDF XChange Viewer has to offer! It also comes with a loupe tool that allows you to zoom in on certain parts of your document, which can be very helpful if you need to focus in on one particular section. It also comes with options to extract your text and images and it allows you to export your documents into image formats. The PDF XChange Viewer also has a tabbed interface, which gives it a more modern feel. Lastly, it offers a set of features that are not commonly found in PDF programs. So, if you'd like to give the PDF XChange Viewer a try for yourself, you can download it right here. Just click on the Download button and you'll be all set. Your PDF files will never be the same again!
Get Sticky - Video Tip
Do you like to use keyboard shortcuts, but would also rather keep one hand on the mouse for other uses? If that's your ultimate typing dream, you're in luck! You can use a feature called "sticky keys." It allows you to eliminate the "multiple keys all at one time" rule in keyboard shortcuts. For instance, if you want to copy something and you have the sticky keys feature enabled, you can hit your Ctrl key, take your finger off the key, then hit your C key. You don't have to do it all in one motion anymore. To learn how to start using this, just click on the link! http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/videotips/index.htm

Get on the Right Level
Some hard drives are very sensitive to surfaces that are not level. Wow, who knew?! Most have trouble functioning properly when they are placed on an uneven surface or at a slant. To move your hard drive and see if this could be the problem, shut down your computer and move your system to a flatter area. You can even use a level to make sure the surface is completely flat. When you've got everything set back up, go ahead and restart your computer normally to see if the drive works any better than it did before.
Often times, this will help bring a doomed hard drive back to life. Keep in mind though that this trick will not work with every single hard drive. Yours might have problems beyond repair and you, of course, will have to look into those further. But, you can always give this a shot, just to see what happens!
Free CD Ripper
Lately, it seems like there has been an influx of MP3 player questions here at WorldStart. A lot of you have gotten MP3 players for Christmas and almost all of you have one specific question: “How do I convert my CDs to an MP3 format?” Well, that is a very good question and today, I have a download for you that will do just that! It's called Free CD Ripper. Let's check it out!
With Free CD Ripper, all you have to do is insert a CD into your computer, click a few buttons and your music will then be in an MP3 format. You can then put all of your favorite songs onto your shiny new MP3 player! Here's what the program looks like:
First, you'll want to pick the place where you want the program to store your music files. To do that, click on Options at the top and then click on the Save and Filename tab. >From there, just choose a folder to save the converted music in. (This is a one time step. It is only needed after the program is first installed).
Next, insert one of your CDs into your computer.
After you insert the CD, choose your CD ROM drive from the device menu at the top. Next, on the right hand Output Format box, choose MP3. After that, go ahead and click on the “i” at the bottom of the Free CD Ripper window. That will fill in the track names and the artist's name of the CD automatically. Next, just click Extract.
And you're done. Wasn't that so easy?! You can then go ahead and do the same thing for all of your CDs (or at least for the songs you want to put on your MP3 player). Then just upload them to your media player and you'll be all set. Yes!
You can download Free CD Ripper for yourself right here. Enjoy!
