Windows: Side-by-side or Stacked? Tile Horizontally or Tile Vertically?

if you want to see two programs at one time, you can right-click in an empty space on the Windows taskbar and select Show Windows Side by Side (which is "Tile Windows Horizontally" in Windows XP) or Show Windows Stacked (which is "Tile Windows Vertically" in XP). This only works well with two windows!

Would you like to have more search engines? Here are some you might like to try.

Google Alert

If you'd like to stay on top of the latest news and search results, might I suggest Google Alert?! Google Alert is a free service that e-mails you new links that have been added to Google's search index on a regular basis. You get to pick and choose what you want to be e-mailed about as well

To begin using Google Alert, just follow these directions:

1.) First, log on to the Google Alert Web site here.

2.) On the right hand side of the page, you'll see the Alerts form. Fill in the following required fields:

  • Search Terms - This is simply what you usually search for. For example, I'm always looking for ways to earn free iTunes, so I typed in "Free iTunes," but you can search for whatever you want.
  • Type - This is what type of search you'd like Google to check for you. For example, Comprehensive, News, Blogs and Web. I selected Web, but choose what you're most interested in for yourself.
  • How often - This is how often you would like to be e-mailed the results. You can choose either once a day, as it happens or once a week. I selected once a week.
E-mail - This is the e-mail address you'll be receiving the alerts on, so make sure you type it right.

3.) Finally, go ahead and press Create Alert.

4.) You will receive an e-mail at the address you specified, asking you to confirm if you'd like to receive these updates. Of course, click the Accept link.

5.) A notification page will then appear. Click the link that says "Google Alerts Homepage."

6.) Now, click the link that says "Click here to manage your alerts."

7.) Here if you decide to add more than one alert, you can see all of them. You can also edit them if you want to change them around a bit.

http://www.file-extensions.org/

No matter how much computers seem to change over the years, you can always count on there being file extensions. Now, you may already be familiar with some file extensions, such as: .jpeg, .gif, .html and .doc. And this Web site is perfect for those times when you run across one you don’t know, like: .bat, .otf, .xml or .sqm.

There are several ways to navigate this site. You can use the search engine to look up an extension you don’t know, you can use the alphabetical listing at the top of the page to choose by letter, you can browse by symbol, number and unknown extensions or you could use the categories on the side menu.

On the main page, you will see the definition of what a file extension is, how to best search for an unknown file extension, the file extension of the day and the most recently updated file extensions throughout the whole site.
