Open up the Device Manager. In Windows Vista, go to Start, Control Panel and click on the System and Maintenance link. Next, click on the System link and then on the left hand side under the Tasks pane, click on Device Manager. That will open a window that lists all of your computer's hardware. You'll see all of your computer's adapters, ROM drives, your keyboard, your mouse, the controllers, the USB ports, etc. Anything that has to do with your computer's hardware will be listed there
Now, let's get back to the question at hand. If you've been having trouble with the drivers for some of your computer's hardware, there are three common issues that come into play. Chances are, your problem lies within one of them.
1.) Certain Hardware is Not Listed - The first problem arises when hardware you expected to find is not listed. If something is left off the list, it's likely the hardware was not installed correctly. In that case, you should power down your computer and find the actual hardware device. Take some time to make sure it is hooked up correctly and then restart your computer. Once you do that, Vista should automatically recognize the hardware and it will go through the installation process again. You may be asked for the hardware's drivers during the new installation, so just make sure you have those ready to go as well. When the installation is done, you should now see the hardware listed under the Device Manager.
2.) You See a Yellow Exclamation Point - It's possible that when you get the Device Manager open, you'll see a few entries that have yellow exclamation points next to them. When that happens, it means the hardware is installed correctly and Windows recognizes it, but it's still not working properly. This type of thing usually involves a driver error, so you just need to update your drivers. To do that, right click on the hardware (the one that has the exclamation point next to it) and choose Properties. Next, click on the Driver tab and then the Update Driver button. From there, click on the option that says "Search automatically for updated driver software." Vista will then look for the correct updated drivers for your hardware device and install them for you. If Windows can't find any, you will need to go to the manufacturer's Web site and download them there.
3.) A Red X Appears - If you have a hardware device with a red X next to it, you're dealing with a disabled piece of hardware. To fix that, simply right click on the hardware and choose Enable. That will start up the hardware and you can begin using it like normal once again.
That's it! Working through all of these troubleshooting techniques should fix your hardware issues within your Device Manager. Luckily, they're all fairly easy to do and they deliver results.

View all fonts on your computer instantly
Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and Windows 7
It seems most everyone like fonts. And there are many font managers for Windows. The reason there are so many font managers for Windows is because Windows lacks any really good, easy way to view you fonts in different sizes. Many of the available font managers are free and many of them are really nice and full of features.
Today we're going to tell you about a program that does one thing - without a lot of features: It lets you view all your installed fonts in different sizes, instantly. Best of all you don't have to install it. Just unzip it and click on the exe file. You'll see all your fonts displayed in different sizes so you can really get a good view of what those fonts look like. And guess what else is good about this program? It's tiny. It's only 34KB. That means even those of you on the slowest dialup can download it in just a few seconds.
the program gives you five. From small to very large. If you'd like to download this tiny program or read more about it,
All those video files - how do you play them?
Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7
Here is a video player called GOM. It plays almost every video file known to mankind including: XviD, DivX, FLV1, AC3, OGG, MP4, H263, WMV, AVI, MOV, MPEG, ASF, ASX, and more. So, why have three or four different players to view all the various video formats you're probably going to encounter.
It has tons of features, and it's free. Free of spyware, free adware, free of goofy toolbars, free of Ask toolbar, free of Yahoo toolbar - it's just plain free. It costs nothing and it installs nothing but the program and associated files that are required for it to function.

More things you might not know about Gmail
All versions of Windows - Gmail account
1. Did you know that attachments sent in formats that Google Documents can read can be opened directly in your browser when you're using a Gmail address? They can. And the list includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and RTF files. No additional software needed, Gmail can open them automatically.
2. When you receive or send attached image files (JPEG, GIF or PNG) formats, Gmail users get the option to download the attached file or view it in their browser. You can also download or playback MP3 files directly in Gmail.
3. Once you've configured Gmail to receive messages from another account - what do you do with your old inbox? Google Email Uploader has a solution for that. The Google Email Uploader enables you to transfer all the old emails stored in your Outlook, Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird email account to a Gmail account. Gmail will even create labels from your folder names and preserve the folder structure from your email program. It's really a great way to backup those important folders and messages.
4. Press Shift while clicking on “Compose Mail” and it will open the new message in a different window. This is especially useful when you want to review several emails while composing an email or answering email.
If you still don't have a Gmail account, you can get one free at http://gmail.com/
