Internet Shorthand

http://www.crowdfound.com/

I deleted some files by mistake and my recycle bin is empty.

If you ever empty your recycle bin by mistake again, just hit the CTRL + Z Keys as soon as you realize you've deleted something you wanted and your files will be instantly restored. If however, you've deleted anything since the files you deleted accidentally or you have shutdown or rebooted your computer, you're in a very difficult area. There are free programs you can use to "undelete" deleted files. But, the files you recover using this type of software may not be in very good shape. The longer the time span between the time you delete the files and the time you realize you deleted them accidentally the more unlikely it is you'll get the files back in useable condition.

Here is one of the many free "undelete" software programs you can download and try. Be sure to read the instructions very carefully. You can't install this on the same drive from which you wish to recover files from, and most programs like this are the same. This program is called "FreeUndelete" and you can download it from here.

Remember, if this ever happens to you again, hit the CTRL + Z Keys as soon as your realize you've made a mistake and your files will be instantly restored and this is much easier and much more certain than waiting a few hours or few days and then trying to recover them

Creating Simple Outlook Express (or Windows Mail) Signature Files

it's easy to create signature files and you can create as many as you need. Here's how:

Open your Outlook Express e-Mail Program and click Tools, then Options.

Step 1: Click New and you will see "Signature #1" appear in the box beside this. Click Rename if you want to give it a name such as My Signature, or Main Signature, or anything you want!

Step 2: Where it says "Edit Signature" type whatever you want here. There is a size limit on the number of words you can put in your signature, but it is pretty big, so go for it! If your signature is too long, Outlook Express will warn you :) Some of our signatures have over 100 words!

Step 3: If you want your signature to show up whenever you send an email, click Default. You do not need to set a signature as your default though!

(NOTE) If you do not set a default, the only time a signature will show up in your mail is if you manually add it (this is a good thing, you won't want thanks for the ostrich mails going out to cousin Betty - or your other personal emails). Be careful here - because if you choose a signature as Default, all mail you send will have the default signature added automatically! If you have several signatures, you can choose a different one when you are sending your mail.

Step 4: Now click Apply and OK.

Now you are ready to start sending mail with signatures! This will work on plain mail or with email stationery!

Adding your signature to an email:

Click Insert, then Signature in the letter you are sending. Pick the signature you want to include. If you chose to make your signature "Default" you do not have to do this step. It will automatically add when you click SEND. If you did not choose a signature as a Default, you will have to do this step to add a signature to your outgoing mail. Or, if you have several different ones you will need to choose the signature you want from the list which appears when you click "Insert" "Signature".

We use "Signatures" as order templates for many of our products. You will find them useful too. If you plan on sending a lot of holiday wishes, you can create a standard holiday signature and use it with your favorite Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas stationery. It will save you a lot of time since you won't have to compose the same basic message over and over.

Hot Performance From Your Aging Windows XP Computer
Windows XP Home, Media, and Professional

Windows XP has some pretty cool visual effects, sliding menus, transparent windows, fading menus, icon shadows, etc. and some folks think that they look great. But all these effects use resources. So, if you can live without all the fancy stuff, you can really improve your computer's performance and get the most out of its RAM and processor. As your computer gets older, it will begin to run slower. Just like people, Anyway here's how to turn off all the Windows XP effects and improve the performance of your aging Windows XP computer:

1. Right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, and then click on the Advanced tab. The System Properties dialog box opens.

2. Click on Settings (under Performance ). The Performance Options dialog box opens.

3. The default setting is to let Windows determine which of the visual effects to use. To turn off all effects, choose Adjust for best performance. To use all visual effects, choose Adjust for best appearance. To turn on and off individual effects, choose Custom, then check the effects you want to use, and uncheck the ones you don't.

You should notice a new spring in the step of your old Windows XP computer. And since Microsoft is going to continue to support Windows XP through 2010 or longer, you can use this tip to speed up an older XP computer and save tons of money by holding off on buying a new Vista computer - or upgrading your older machine so it can handle the upgrade to Vista - sometimes an expensive procedure
