A New Place to Save
Have you ever found yourself trying to save a file in an Office program and realize it needs to go in a brand new folder? You know, one you haven't even created yet.
For some of you, I'm sure the solution was to close the Save As window, minimize the program, navigate to your My Documents folder (or some other location), create the folder, close My Documents, return to the program and start the saving process all over again. It works, but it certainly takes a long time!
So, the next time you decide your new file needs a new "home," try creating the folder from within the Save As window.
To do that, once you're in the Save As window (File menu, Save As choice), you're looking for the Create New Folder button.
Or, Alt + 5 will accomplish the same thing.
Either way, once you click the button or use the key combination, a smaller window will open where you can name your new folder.
Give the folder a name and click OK.
You'll then be returned to the Save As window where you'll find that your newly created folder is open (the file list is empty though, since you haven't had a chance to save anything yet).
Now, it's time to name the file and click the Save button.
New folders on command, with no leaving the program required.
