Do you like to use Firefox as my main Web browser, but sometimes the tabbed browsing confuses you!
The Firefox Web browser has created a whole slew of new extensions to help everyone out with their tabbed browsing process
Here are nine extensions you can download for a better tabbed browsing experience
1.) Chromatabs - This Firefox extension adds color to your tabs, which makes it a lot easier for you to tell them apart from one another. Each Web site you visit will have a new color and you can then identify a certain Web site with its specific tab color. It will either choose a random color for each Web site or it will pick a color based on the site's own tab icon. To colorize your tabs, click here and download the Chromatabs extension for yourself.
2.) Separate Tabs - With this extension, you can group your different tabs together, according to the host URL. This makes the arrangement of your tabs much more logical and easy to understand. With that being done, you can then navigate through your tabs with a lot more ease. You can download this extension for yourself right from this link.
3.) Showcase - This extension gives you an easier way to manage all of your Firefox tabs by showing them as thumbnails in either a single window, tab or sidebar. That way, you can view all your tabs at the same exact time. This one also comes with a search bar you can use to filter out the thumbnails and find the site you're looking for much faster. It also allows you to select the thumbnails in the same way you would go through other files on your computer. It's very convenient. To try Showcase, you can download it right from here.
4.) Tab Scope - This one takes the Showcase extension (discussed above) even one step further. With Tab Scope, your tab previews will only be shown when you roll over them with your mouse. This makes everything just a little more simple. Plus, once you mouse over a tab, you can start to navigate through the preview even before the tab is fully open. Very nice! You can download it here.
5.) Send Tab URLs - This Firefox extension adds a File menu to the main browser's window. When you go to use the File menu command, a new e-mail message will be created, which will include a list of URLs from all the browser tabs open in the current window. This one's very helpful, as I'm sure you can already see. If you're interested, you can download it right from this link.
6.) Tab Mix Plus - Tab Mix Plus enhances all of your Firefox tab browsing capabilities. For example, with it, you can duplicate your tabs, control the tab focus, there are tab clicking options, you can undo closed tabs and so on. Along with all of that, it also includes a session manager with a crash recovery feature that allows you to save and restore combinations of tabs and windows. How cool is that?! You can download Tab Mix Plus for yourself right here.
7.) Faviconize Tab - If downloaded, this extension is added to the context menu of your tabs. When you click on it, the width of the tab becomes smaller, almost to the size of a favicon. It can then be returned to a normal size when it is clicked again. To download this one, just click here.
8.) Tab Counter - Want to count the number of tabs you have open? Then Tab Counter is perfect for you! With it, you can count the number of tabs you have open per window and the final tally will be displayed in the toolbar. This one is good if you're curious about how much of your system resources you're using or if you just want to count them for fun! You can download Tab Counter here.
9.) Aging Tabs - If you have trouble keeping track of all the tabs you have open, you may want to give this extension a try. When you're browsing the Internet, you probably have some tabs open that you're no longer using and if you'd just close them out, you can open up some more space. Well, the Aging Tabs extension actually adds some "age" to your tabs if they've been open for a long period of time. It will just highlight them for you and you can then go through and close them out if you don't need them anymore. If you're interested in this one, you can download it right from this link.
Well, there you have it. Nine tabbed browsing extensions that will make your life so much easier. Check them all out or maybe even just download a couple of them. Either way you go, your tabbed browsing experience just got a whole lot better.
I could’nt figure how to download the add-on I wanted so I e-mailed the person who wrote this program, below are his instructions. His address is www.lazyrussian.com Carol
a) Right-click with your mouse in the gray area in the menu-bar that has the File/Edit.View/History.,. drop-down menus (to the right of all these options exists a large gray area.
b) When you right click you are given multiple options, please select and click on the that last one - "customize"..
b) checked the Add-Ons page to see if it's there; Go to Tools--->Add-Ons.
Usually what happens when the extension install is the following:
1. Firefox Downloads the Extension
2. Firefox Installs the Extension
3. Firefox Restarts and takes you back to the last visited page, in your case it happens to be the download URL.
Anyway, check the add-ons page and tell me if it's there. I have a feeling you think it might not have installed because none of the buttons popped up – there’s a method to getting those buttons on your toolbar afterwards.
c) c) Scroll down until you see a button/icon with a caption that says (Gmail or google apps This! )
d) Drag that button with your mouse. While your mouse is over the image, left-click and hold the button down over the gmail this button/icon
e) While your holding that image, drag it to the location on the menu bar where you would like to have it. Wala! you're done
