You check just one of your accounts automatically and the secondary account (or accounts) only when you want.
First, do this:
Open Outlook Express
Click "Tools" (on the toolbar)
Click "Accounts"
Highlight your secondary account
Click "Properties"
Uncheck the box that says "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing"
Click Apply/OK
Now, your primary account will continue to check for mail automatically just as it did when you had only one account. And you can check for email in your secondary account manually anytime you wish, just follow the instructions below:
Open Outlook Express
Click "Tools"
"Send and Receive"
From the send and receive menu, you can choose to send and receive mail for any one account or all accounts, receive mail from one account or all accounts, or send mail from one account or all accounts. You can check mail for your secondary account whenever you like using this dialog.
Since Windows Mail (on Windows Vista) is so similar to Outlook Express (all the dialogs needed to perform the above are the same) this answer will be helpful to those of you running Windows Vista as well as those running Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000 or Windows XP - only if you're using Outlook Express of course.
