3-22-07 Acronym Finder & moreTips

Acronym Finder

Welcome to Acronym Finder. This is the place where you can look up just about any acronym, abbreviation or initial ism to find out what they mean.

It's really easy to use too! Just type in the acronym you want to find. I used ZOMG. Then just click the Find button. You can also fill in the bullet for whether its an acronym youre looking up or a word in meaning.

My results came back like this:

ZOMG Zoh! My God! (gaming, World of Warcraft)
ZOMG
Zombies!
ZOMG - Zeus,

I was trying to find the first one. I thought it would be harder to find, since it is mostly used in a game. The results came back fast and accurate though. I was impressed!

Other things I really loved about this site were the examples provided in the upper right corner. The examples display how the search engine works. So, if you click coffee, the example they've provided for Word in Meaning, it will show you all the abbreviations and acronyms that are related to the word coffee.

On the left side at the top, you will find a link that allows you to view the search on the side. This gives you a search box and a drop down box of many ways to search by.

You will also find a link called The Acronym Blog. This is where you will find the latest information and news about the site, as well as, some related sites.

This site is a great tool to have. I know I bookmarked it for later use and I hope you will too. Check it out today!

Cell Formatting Trick

Do you constantly find yourself going to the Format menu, Cells choice to make changes in MS Excel? (You know, for things like data format, text direction, borders, fill color, etc).

Do you hate using the mouse for all of that?

Looking for a faster, keyboard driven method to access the Format Cells window?

Good, then you're in the right place!

Next time, skip the menu and highlight the cells you need to format. (Don't forget, holding down the Shift key while using the directional keys will highlight the cells too).

From there, simply use the key combination of Ctrl + 1.

Poof! You're instantly taken to the window where you're free to format to your heart's content!
