Computer Tips & tricks

Have you used the new energy smart fluorescent light bulbs? I just tried them and I like them. The light seem brighter to me.

From the Outlook express toolbar:

Select "Tools" then "Message Rules".
- Now choose "Blocked Senders List" from the dropdown menu
- Highlight the sender (or domain) you want to remove and click "Remove"

Windows Tips
By default, if you insert a CD it will auto-start/auto-run; if you want to over ride this hold your shift key down when you insert a CD. If you want to change the default setting altogether, open My Computer, right click on your CD/DVD drive, choose Properties and you will have several options to choose from under the AutoPlay tab.

Quickly close a document by pressing Control + F4

Whenever you open a program each will open in its own window on your desktop; they stack up on each other like sheets of paper on a "real" desk. Only one can be active at a time, and it is always the top one. Only the active window can accept keyboard input and shortcuts. Well, how do you make a window active you say? Since the only window on the desktop that can accept keyboard input or shortcuts is the Active Window you can make any window the "Active" window by doing this:

Click any portion of the window that is showing, including corners that may be peeking out from underneath or any area of its taskbar. Or, press Alt+Tab keys to cycle through all the open windows until the window you want active is highlighted and on top.
